FACILITIES MANAGER

The ideal candidate will plan, direct, evaluate, oversee, organize, supervise and coordinate with departments the activities and operation of all City facilities, with building related services, materials and contractors. Manager will develop and implement short and long-term goals and objectives, manage service contracts, develop annual budgets, and coordinate assigned activities with departments and outside agencies. Five years’ experience in administration and supervision required, with a Bachelor’s degree in related field, or specialized training in facilities management and maintenance preferred. FULL TIME - Cemetery & Parks Maintenance

Candidate must have experience in general grounds maintenance with the care of flowers, shrubs, trees, and turf. Must have knowledge of the operation and maintenance of commercial equipment used - including but not limited to dump trucks, backhoes, mowers, snow plows, snow blowers, weed eaters, chain saws, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers. Candidate will dig graves and assist with funerals. Some heavy lifting required.

Working in all weather conditions is a must, with possible nights and/or weekends. Candidate must have supervisory skills and be able to obtain a commercial pesticide applicator’s license within six (6) months of employment.

PART TIME - Doyle Front Desk Attendants

Positions available with set "weekday" hours and/or evening and weekends. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the daily operations and clerical duties of the reception/front desk. This position meets and greets all members and visitors upon entering the facility while providing professional and courteous customer service at all times. Some of the duties include, but not limited to: computer system work, class & court reservations, providing information on events and activities, answering the phone, enrolling new memberships, and cash register operations.

Education: High School graduation or equivalent. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate with people of all ages. Experience: Prior customer service experience is preferred, with experience in secretarial, clerical, computer systems/software and record keeping. Physical Requirements: Position requires the ability to perform the essential functions contained in this description. These include, but are not limited to, the following requirements:

1) Ability to enter and retrieve information from a computer. 2) Ability to solve basic mathematical equations. 3) Ability to access all areas of the recreation center. 4) Ability set-up and tear-down rooms/courts with tables, chairs and other athletic equipment. 5) Stooping, kneeling and crouching to perform physical activities associated with programs and events. 6) Ability to lift various objects, at times, weighing not more than 50 lbs. 7) Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time to monitor and evaluate the activity in the facility. NEEDED IMMEDIATELY - SEASONAL Cemetery & Parks Maintenance

The City of Sturgis is seeking seasonal help in the Parks & Cemetery Department for the Summer season. Workers needed 16 to 40 hours per week with flexible schedules.

Training provided with student schedules available. Duties include but not limited to: mowing, weeding, leaf pickup, misc. park maintenance, and the use of lawn maintenance equipment.

METER DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR

The successful candidate will direct and supervise the training and scheduling of staff. Will also oversee and participate in testing, repair, installation, and maintenance of electric meters, water meters and related devices. Candidate will also oversee and participate with service disconnects, reconnects, investigate inaccurate registration, prepare reports, respond to all emergencies at all hours as needed, practice good housekeeping, be responsible for assigned vehicles, maintain all safety practices for department, and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory and experience in a comparable position is preferred with minimum qualifications including a high school diploma or equivalent with additional technical and vocational training in electric and water meter maintenance and repair; valid driver's license; certification in CPR and first aid; Michigan Class C Operator certificate; must have very strong communication skills for customer service, employees, and management; and experience with computers and programs.

GIS MANAGER

The GIS Manager will manage all GIS related activities for the City and support GIS functions for all the City departments. The position includes duties that range from GIS management and leadership to technical GIS execution.

Functions will include, but not limited to supervising and training GIS and City staff; coordination of GIS work; direct related data development projects; provide expertise to City staff, engineers, planners, consultants and developers; maintain utility databases; data manipulation; attend City meetings and Commission Meetings; implementation and maintenance of Quality Control/Quality Assurance program and/or procedures.

Employment Qualifications – include proficiency with ESRI software ArcGIS; GIS data conversion, editing, map production, spatial database management, spatial analysis and reporting; AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and relation to GIS; strong cartographic/data management skills; import and export data from DBFs; Access tables and queries and SQL statements; strong leadership, mentoring and team-building skills; experience with project management and budgets; very strong communication skills with the public, City employees, management, Commission, Local, State and Federal governments with both oral and written skills; knowledge of server maintenance and computer networks; and development of specifications for aerial photography.

Education – Minimum of five (5) years of applied GIS experience, College or work experience in Geography, Cartography, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering, GIS or related fields.
